Despite it is a story of a short break, one day trip to mountains in August, you will find here neither a horror like scenario nor a thrilling life episode. In fact it is all about the name of a very popular place in Carpatian mountains. Babia Gora, which is the main character of this story, is a part of very popular part of mountain for weekend climbers. Translated as Witches’ Mountain, it has its highest point called the Devil’s Peak. Despite Babia Gora is called in gloomy way, it is quite pleasent place even for non demanding climbers; families can easily take under teenage offsprings with them for couple hours walk rich in fresh air and amazing views. Located 70km from Krakow, it is one of favorit places for the king’s city inhabitants wishing to spend a day outisde the metroply.
There are many routes all over that place. However I prefer these, which end at the same place where they begun, simply because I want to get back to my car. Most popular place to start is Krowiarki‘s mountain pass, with big parking lot for city dwellers. From this point red trail leads directly to the highest peak which can be reached in 2-3 hours of average walk pace. Walking further towards trails’ crossroad, one can make a turn to Markowe Szczawiny, known of moutain shelter, and then back to mountain pass making a circle, all within 5-6 hours.
You may wonder why freaky urban skater, the industrial beast, is talking about mountains. Simply because of my motto: have your opinion based on your own experience :]
